Teen Talk a Bad Thing?

I don't have time at the moment to post a link, but there's a report at abc.com of a study showing that talking excessively about Their problems may aggravate anxiety in teenage Girls.

I wonder if blogging falls into that category.

I wish you would post that link .I couldn't find it.

Anyway, to answer your question, clearly not :)

I think I see your point. Discussing excessively and blogging about your problems all tantamount to dwelling on those issues, and that can be very unhealthy.

But, when you blog, you write whatever's on your mind, and then you sit back and look at it. And you realise how wrong you've been, it's not all that bad. Definitely not like talking the same stuff over and over again.

The problem is, Trisia, that the link was to an ABC news video, not a written report, and I didn't have time before work to mess with something that technical.

At work, I can only blog on what few breaks I have during the day.

I'll definitely seek out the link tonight, if some other blogger here doesn't beat me to it.

It would seem to turn conventional theories upside down and is therefore worth some discussion, especially since it concerns the welfare of Women.

My 2 cents: talking about it is good especially if you get to have a good listener nearby.
Talking too much about it makes it an obsession. Once a storm is unleashed, it makes a great deal of damage before it calms down.
Teens are still unstable psychologically and dwelling on a certain idea makes them think they have a problem, they start over analysing and so on.
Talking is good if you talk to the right person, who can give you some feedback ("uh-huh" "yeah" "I understand" "I know" not included) on the situation they're in and what they should do about it.
Talking about something without getting any answers just gets you stuck in a tiresome circularity.
So having people to comment (good or bad)leaves room for other questions, widening the circle. Blogging is ok, but it has its downsides. If it's public some people allow themselves to get carried away by anonimity, if it's private, it's hard sometimes to know if someone would like to be invited to his/her blog.
