Misdirected Energy

Concerning the measure that recently passed in California, imposing limitations ...

Stealing is bad.

Beating up people is bad.

Locking children in closets is bad.

Setting fire to occupied dwellings is bad.

The enemy is cruelty. The enemy is deception. The enemy is breach of promise.

A whole coalition of churches spent a lot of time and money attacking an imaginary enemy. Two consenting adults who want to be married are not the enemy. If you disagree, please help me to understand the reason why.

Though I truly agree with everything you are saying, I see it from the point of view of these churches as well. Knowing that homosexuality is a sin, they aren't going to be inactive when a measure to allow homosexuals to marry is passed. Though I agree that there are MANY other things worth more attention than this, and that some churches or individuals go overboard, I would like to think that most people are just trying to preserve the Christian morality the best that they can in a world that is becoming increasingly secular.

My point of view - we as Christians should not try to interfere with, though something that is sinful, not harmful to anyone. Which is why I believe gays should be allowed to marry.

It probably has something to do with their concern for the children more than not allowing two consenting adults to unite.
