Another old friend

If you visit Ildiko's blog today, you don't need to read the Hungarian captions to appreciate Her mastery of the camera!

Tell Her that Her work is "gyonyoru." She'll like that!

Notice of a return!

All of us bloggers have our periods of not writing. And when a dear blog friend finally comes back online, it is a happy moment for those who cherish them! So it was recently with my friend, Jeane, who has been through a rough stretch. And today, I joyfully announce the return of Amarpreet, The Empress. A gorgeous picture awaits any of you who visit Her blog today. http://empressforhire.blogspot.com

A new friend added

It has been many moons since I added anyone to my blogroll, because I am painfully aware that I don't pay enough attention to all the wonderful people who are already on the list.

But I had a thought today: A blogroll is not just a to-do list for me, a reminder of people whom I need to visit. It is also a way for me to share with visitors to Isis these great bloggers, so that they can step through the doorway into those blogs and perhaps make a new friend.

So I will begin to add some more names to the list, starting with a New York beauty who has intelligence, attitude and a constantly lit cigarette to keep jerks at bay.

Nicotine Queen (supremenicotinequeen.blogspot.com) is the Yankee, big-city version of beautiful Southern Kat (http:herekittykatkat.blogspot.com), one of my earliest and best blog friends, who has a long-standing and permanent link on my blogroll and in my heart.

You both light up my world!

Can you ever have too many friends?

This week, I have been enjoying two new blog friendships: Walking Man -- certainly my alter-ego, Enkidu to my Gilgamesh; and Nicotine Queen, a witty and feisty dweller in Gotham City, aka the Big Apple, aka New York.

And tonight, I found another great blog to explore: Genevieve's treenotes.blogspot.com. A labor of love about our magnificent Eastern American trees.

Can you ever have too many friends?

Don't go away!

Several times, and now again recently, a good blog friend of mine has decided to end their blog. The reasons differ in each case but my feelings are the same: sadness.

I don't understand it. My regular blog friends are just as real as any of my non-blog friends. And the way my life is, I spend more time with blog friends than with most other people. I know most of your real names, some of your birthdays, your likes and dislikes, even the names of some of your children.

You've advised me and I have advised you.

And then, for whatever reason, some of you just disappear. It's as if a "real-world" friend decided to move away and never to write or call or visit.

Whatever the pain, whatever is going on, your sincere blog friends can talk with you about it and maybe help you feel better. Behind these computer screens, we are all real people.

Another new blog to enjoy

Her given name is Jessica but She goes by Foster Communications on Her blog. I will stick with Her given name, because Women's names are beautiful and should never be abbreviated or substituted.

As with so many of my blog friends, I can't remember exactly how we found each other.

We have the same career, school PR. That makes, along with Chase, three in this blog circle who work in education. Interesting.

I'm adding Her to my list because She is simply a neat person, with a great blog. I realize that I already have met too many wonderful people to keep up with, and on average, I visit each person on my list about twice a month these days. But I simply cannot resist.

I call a friend Maria

I've been a better blogger this week. I visited almost everyone on my list at least once. Scarlett and Ian, I will wander over soon!

So I am going to reward myself with a new addition to the list, a warm and witty Lady named Maria.

She's a non-traditional Mom who writes with a comedienne's flair about rude people, great people and life in general. She finds food tempting, zippers annoying and reading therapeutic.

I found Her through Rebecca's blog, BTW. Thank You, Rebecca, You are great.

Interesting Site of The Day

It is amazing how, even with just a little lunchtime scrap of freetime, I can hop onto the Internet and find the oddest articles, the most interesting bits of writing.

Such as this blog: http://howidiedtoday.blogspot.com/

A humorous diary, in the same vein as Kenny from Southpark, of the myriad ways in which its author dies daily but mysteriously is alive and well for the next adventure.

How did I find it? I typed "died of thirst" in a search engine, for no apparent reason.

Welcome, Ian!

I haven't linked anyone in a while. Just been too busy. But Ian of "Or So I Thought" has visited here several times now, and I love his witty blog and so it is high time to make the connection.

Just an aside: I grew up thinking that name was pronounced Ee-yan. Even today, I have to catch myself and remember that the I in this case is pronounced "sh." Such were the pitfalls of an avid youthful reader, whose first encounter with many words was on the printed page, not in my ears. I pronounced all sorts of words the way that seemed logical to me, until I actually heard them spoken for the first time.

A Lady indeed

Always readable.

Always interesting.

Always a blend of wisdom and humor.

This is the Lady LayDdee, whose gift is coverage of celebrity culture. She is neither a hater nor a drooler.

Today She has covered the recent Women in Hollywood awards -- textually and photographically.

Check out Her work at www.layddee.com.

Welcome, Nadiyya!

Nadiyya, who lives in Egypt, has joined this blog community recently. I haven't had the chance to read much of Her blog yet but I'm going to link Her anyway, because I have certainly enjoyed the posts that I have read.

She cares deeply about children and that is beautiful. We shall get along quite well.
