While bombs exploded ...

I saved this fascinating clip from September and I finally have the time tonight to share it with you.

It's about a luthier -- a violin maker, in a most unusual place.

I've tried to embed the link but I'm not doing something right so I'll just have to ask you to paste it into your browsers:

I cannot connect.

oftentimes news stories have a limited time on the net... removed permanently or to archived material... maybe this one is no longer posted?

I will try again.

I googled these search words..."army medic violin" and the search came up with numerous articles about this story...

“See here,” he says clutching a large piece of wood, “I’ve got this wood and piles of it back here. It’s cello wood. This board alone costs $700. I’m just dying to make cellos. It’s probably the most beautiful instrument, maybe even surpassing the violin. When you hear a cello play, you know that’s a cello. It’s got a rich, deep sound.”

.... I LOVE THE CELLO :-)

Your search - http://www.wkrn.com/nashville/news/ap-army-medic-crafted-fine-violins-surrounded-by-violence-in-iraq/115361.htm - did not match any documents.

glad I did not let that message stop my search :-)

but the link DID WORK when I placed it in the browser rather than the google search...

the ways of computers will still mystify me... but I manage...

Thanks, Kat, for persisting. I told You it was worth it. It would have been easy enough to just paste the whole story here but I think that's against copyright laws.
