Skimming through a book on Shakespeare today, I saw a name and thought a thought. I asked Sweetie, off in the living room:
"What is the name of that Girl who played in 'Princess Diaries' and 'The Other Side of Heaven?'"
"Anne Hathaway," my Beloved responded.
So I was right. This lovely modern Actress shares the same name as the Wife of the one and only William Shakespeare.
Did Her parents know? Did Mr. and Mrs. Hathaway choose "Anne" on purpose for their Daughter -- if so, twas a beautiful gesture, albeit one lost on our modern, virtually illiterate culture. I do not exempt myself -- after all, this name relationship is as new to me as any other Joe Sixpack out there.

A beautious image with which to begin my week.
I knew that.
But I do often wonder if parents intentionally give their children names that have already been attached to famous people. I have seen it quite a few times.
It's kind of hard to meet someone named Brain Wilson and not think of the Beach Boys or the Barenaked Ladies song.
It is an unusual name [the surname, at any rate!] It would be interesting to know if they were trying to stack the deck!
Ian: The good life is a celebration of beauty in all its forms -- literary, natural, scientific and, of course, the pinnacle of it all, the beauty of the Feminine.
Chase: Then again, there are those wacky parents who give their children names utterly of their own invention, such as Apple or Moon Unit.
Molly: Indeed it is, quintessentially British.
i am glad to learn this Today.
Thank you sweet you!
