Pawpaw posting
Had the pleasure this week, thanks to some foraging friends, of tasting my very first pawpaw fruit. Now the seeds are "stratifying" in the fridge, should germinate on Christmas day. The little fruits tasted like a cross between a banana and a mango.
You say "Pawpaw" and I say "papaya". One of my favorite foods but do not eat excessively as it can irritate the bowels when consumed in large quantities. Pawpaw enzymes are good as meat tenderizers. Hope you and your family are well.
Squirrel, interestingly enough, outside of the U.S. apparently people refer to a certain tropical fruit, Carica papaya, in the Caricaceae family, as pawpaw or papaya; whereas in the U.S., we reserve the term pawpaw for a small, wild native temperate fruit in the custard apple family.
