Said the Kmart clerk today as my Beloved and I checked out:
"Oh, I wish it was Friday. I hate working."
"I wish I had a job," said the person in line behind us.
"You can have my job," said the clerk.
Is anybody happy?

good question.
Are you happy?
My good friend:
I think that life is about enjoying happy moments in spite of challenges. If I wait until everything is perfect to smile, I will never smile.
So although worries poke and prod at me, I still stop to enjoy the spring blooming crocus flowers, the feeling of a warm breeze, the pleasure of a good meal.
Hi ECD,
So many people aren't content with what they have. That being said, I know that I wouldn't want to be a cashier at K-mart.
We all have debts and responsibilities and need to work. So in some way, many of us are in the same boat.
I just wish we can be happy with what we have.
I wouldn't want to be a clerk either. It must be awful when all the frustrated customers yell in your aching ears.
Smile on, ECD
nicely said ECD..
I try to enjoy every little moment and often escape to my unreal world of my own fantasy. It is perfectly okay to have own world I think..
other than I am confused as to the meaning of existence, bombarded with 'news' that should be called bad news instead of just 'news', I try my hardest to surround myself with positive.. and that include people like you who call me my good friend..
little things make this enormously big existence of being literally 'grounded' on earth, easier.
so... I guess your crocuses are out already? mine are just starting to come out..
Lots of warm wishes for you and your sweet wife.
She was some clerk, Chase -- got ecstatic when she saw I was buying cucumber seeds and asked me if she could have some of them when they are ready to harvest.
Yes, Ela, my crocuses are blooming beautifully. I spent all morning very carefully weeding all around them.
I think its those personal tragidies that may one most aware of living for the moment.
How are you doing? thinking of you sometimes.
