A dimunitive beauty

When A.R. and I went hiking the other day, I was excited to find one of my old-time woodland neighbors in bloom. It only grows in two places that I know of in the entire forest behind my house. She wanted to pick it but I had to help Her understand that this flower is too scarce to do that.

The little beauty is called Chimaphila maculata (Spotted wintergreen.)

I clicked to enlarge it to have a better look.....It is gorgeous!

Molly: It was definitely a challenge to photograph, as the flower is about the size of a dime in diameter. I had to use the macrolens and try several different angles, with flash on and flash off.

I seem to have the most difficulty with flowers that are white like that -- they lose detail.

so extravagant your woods (in the best sense) to have such! and how elegant the plant is!

oh yes! mustn't pick

(like the ladyslipper that uses such personal resources to create the bloom to reproduce- and if it is gone - - the labor lost- - and our world diminished)

you are so wise and I know you shared the wisdom in a gentle fashion

time to buy and bring home a surprise bouquet of something just for the heck of it! and for the love!

for your niece of course

but get one also for your other Sweetie!

You know, Kat, that is a wonderful idea. My Sweetie is definitely deserving of a bouquet this week and little A.R., too.

Speaking of A.R., my in-laws have an old swing-set that needs to be disassembled. I plan to discreetly loosen a few of the bolts ahead of time this week and then give the child the chance to develop Her mechanical skills by helping me take it apart.

Ah! Thanks so much for the warm regards and kind thoughts!
Love to all!

Thank You, lovely Kat, for Your help. I thought that link was a great one for FLOW, since beauty and intelligence are a natural Feminine combination.
